Paul McCloskey

Paul McCloskey - Budbrooke & Bishops Tachbrook

Retired: Previously British Telecom’s first Computer Security Adviser, and in later years a Change Management Consultant when both BT and Royal Mail were impacted by privatisation and the loss of their monopoly.

His older daughter has lived in Warwickshire for more than twenty years, and his grandchildren were born in Warwick hospital. He and Helena moved to Hampton Magna three years ago from Cheltenham to be nearer the grandchildren.

He’s been involved in local politics for many years. This election will be his eleventh, not counting European and Westminster elections. He was a Cllr in Cheltenham, and chair of the Audit & Treasury Management Committees. He was also on the Planning and Licensing committees. His previous ward, Charlton Kings, included parts of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, which were rural with a number of farms. He also sat on the Gloucestershire Economic Growth Scrutiny Committee, so is well versed in scrutinising large county-wide programmes, and aware of the financial challenges Warwickshire is facing as Local Government is reorganised.

He is passionate about combatting Climate Change and the loss of biodiversity. He has always been active in the community. He was a school Governor for many years, in three separate counties. Warwickshire is a delightful place to live, and he will work hard to keep it that way.

As a grandparent and chair of a cancer charity, Paul is very aware of the challenges for families in the 21st century, struggling with the after-effects of COVID, education, unemployment, caring for elderly relatives etc.
